Josh Duhamel is trying hard not to "shout from the rooftops" about his baby with wife Fergie.

The actor is currently expecting a baby with wife Fergie and the star is so proud to become a first-time father.

Josh has joked that although he wants to gush about impending fatherhood, he is trying to hold back as much as possible.

"It's one of those things you're so excited to tell everyone about but you can't until it's time, so that was probably the hardest thing for me because I wanted to shout it from the rooftops but we had to keep it quiet for a long time. It's one of those things, you want to keep as private as you can but at the same time you're so excited you want to tell everybody. I want to tell everybody every detail I know!" he smiled in an interview with Access Hollywood.

"The most important thing is that little baby and keeping him or her as safe as possible."

Josh then went on to tease: "We have a number of names, yes. Yeah, like I'm going to tell you!"

Josh has previously revealed that his mother was the disciplinarian while he was growing up, and his father was more spirited. The Hollywood hunk has revealed what kind of parent he hopes to be with his child.

"I think that if we're smart we take the best of both parents. My mom and dad were great. They were young when they had me, so they were learning as they go, just like I'll learn as I go," he explained.

"I'm looking forward to every little thing. I'm looking forward to all of it. I'm even looking forward to waking up at night and doing what everyone says you're going to dread. But you know what, I've heard all the horror stories and it can't possibly be as bad as they say it is!"
