Justin Bieber detracted from the social media drama surrounding him by sharing pictures and several videos of his fluffy new puppy Todd on his Instagram page on Monday (15Aug16).

Justin Bieber once again caused a social media storm on Monday (15Aug16) as he shared snaps of the new addition to his family.

The 22-year-old singer hit headlines over the weekend when he threatened to make his Instagram account private following cruel comments about his new girlfriend Sofia Richie. His post caused ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez to chastise the Sorry star: "If you can’t handle the hate then stop posting pictures of your girlfriend lol - it should be special between you two only. Don't be mad at your fans. They love you."

Justin then hit back, appearing to accuse Selena of using him "for attention". But on Monday, the pop superstar attempted to move on from the controversy by posting pictures and several videos of his fluffy new puppy Todd.

The first shot showed the dog sitting contentedly in Justin's arms, with the singer captioning the picture: "My new little fluff ball Todd."

Just hours after posting, the picture already has 1.6 million "likes" from fans. Justin also shared two videos of the canine, including one of the pooch yawning as the singer can be heard in the background saying: "Are you even real? What are you?"

Meanwhile, sources close to Selena have responded to the Twitter feud with Justin, saying he is the one who used their former romance to attract publicity.

"They're both young and have made mistakes, but she has never used him," an insider told People.com. "He put their relationship out there way more than she ever did, and he's been very strategic about it."

Most notably, since they split in 2012, Justin has often shared "throwback" snaps of him and Selena during their relationship. And the source insists he has done so in order to elicit a response from his ex.

"Whenever something good is happening in her life, he'll post something to get at her," the insider added.
