Justin Bieber stolen laptop prank

Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber's "stolen laptop" was a ploy to promote his new music video.

The Baby hitmaker was embroiled in scandal after his laptop was reported stolen on Tuesday.

?An anonymous blogger using the Twitter handle @gexwy threatened to release incriminating video of the star on Friday.

The 18-year-old has now revealled it was all part of a marketing stunt.

Justin debuted new music video Beauty and a Beat, featuring Nicki Minaj, on Friday.

The five-minute clip shows Justin filming himself at a pool party with dancers.

The singer said his motivation was payback for the false reports he's endured throughout his career.

"since i was 14 i have had a lot of things said about me," he tweeted, explaining, "from dying, to taking hormones, to dying again, to stuff about my family... to saying i had a baby with a woman i never even met. nude pics, drugs, my family, my character...but today...today i get to be in on it (sic)."
