Justin Bieber's mother, Pattie Mallette, will support him no matter who he wants to date.

The teen star has been criticised for a variety of reasons lately, with a video emerging last week of him urinating into a mop bucket in a club kitchen.

It's been reported that Justin has rekindled his flame with on/off girlfriend Selena Gomez, who sources say is a stabilising influence in his life.

His mother, Pattie Mallette, certainly hopes the 19-year-old finds someone to settle down with.

"I think every mom wants their child with a great person," she answered Australian radio show hosts Kyle and Jackie O when quizzed about her son's relationship with Selena.

"I'm gonna support him no matter who he chooses. I don't wanna get too involved in his dating life."

Justin was yesterday accused of spitting in a DJ's face at a nightclub and has hit headlines for reportedly speeding around in his Ferrari and assaulting a neighbour.

Pattie always calls the star up if she sees something in the newspapers so they can talk it out.

"There's always things that are made up. People like to sensationalise things. He handles that side of things pretty well; he tries not to let that kind of thing bother him," she explained.

"Sometimes when I see something and I'm not with him I will call him and we talk...

"I think that whatever he's going through, whether in the public eye or not, he's always had to do things his own way and no matter what way he has to get there, he's gonna come out on top."

Pattie had a troubled childhood and has published book Nowhere but Up: The Story of Justin Bieber's Mom, detailing her struggle to help others in similar situations.

Justin's huge number of fans has helped her build a wide audience for her story.

"I'm just amazed, because he's got this awesome platform that I can use to do good," she smiled.
