Kardashians threaten to enforce ‘abuse of process’
The Kardashian family’s lawyers have threatened to submit an “abuse of process” case against ex-stepmother Ellen Kardashian.
Ellen has named Ryan Seacrest Productions, Bunim-Murray Productions, Jenner Communications, Kim, Kourtney, Khloé, Rob and their mother Kris Jenner as defendants in a defamation lawsuit.
The widow of the Kardashian siblings’ late father Robert filed the papers this week and apparently she has been unable to deliver legal notice directly to the Kardashians themselves.
The brood’s lawyer Marty Singer refuses to allow his clients to be personally served with the complaint and requires Ellen to send documents to his office directly.
“Please be advised that we are authorised to accept service of that complaint on behalf of our clients,” Singer wrote in a scathing letter that was obtained by Radar Online.
“Accordingly, we request that you serve the complaint on our office. If you attempt to serve the complaint directly on the Kardashian Family and/or Jenner Communications, then your failure to comply with this request will subject you to a claim for abuse of process.”
According to the website, Ellen’s lawyers consider Singer’s move to be “rank hypocrisy”, as it indicates that the Kardashians “should be spared the same humiliation that your clients decided would make good television when it came to our client”.
Ellen accuses the Kardashians of “intentional infliction of emotional distress” and according to court documents she is convinced they hired a private investigator to frame her for ratings on their show.
The legal battle with Ellen commenced when the Kardashian siblings asked for over $500,000 in damages from the widow earlier this year.
Apparently they were incensed that Ellen decided to share writing from their father’s personal journal with the public.
