Kate Beckinsale 'gives McAdams love advice'

Kate Beckinsale

Kate Beckinsale has reportedly told Rachel McAdams to "put her foot down" if she wants to marry Michael Sheen.

Kate and Michael dated for eight years and their daughter Lily was born in 1999. She has previously admitted she was embarrassed they never tied the knot and she is now happily wed to Len Wiseman.

Michael has been dating Rachel since they met on the set of Midnight in Paris in 2010 and they are both friends with Kate. The trio reportedly went to a high school football game with Lily recently, with Kate taking the opportunity to give Rachel some relationship tips.

"Kate told Rachel that since she never picked for marriage, Michael never asked. So Rachel needs to put her foot down," an insider told National Enquirer.

Rachel celebrated her 34th birthday on November 17 and is reportedly hoping her 43-year-old beau will pop the question before too long.

Kate has previously said she felt like she was married to Michael as they were together for so long. She did once confront him about why he never proposed and was surprised by his reply.

"I actually asked Michael outright, 'Why aren't we married yet?' I couldn't believe it when he said, 'Because every time I was going to ask you, you did something annoying,'" she said when they were still together. "So maybe if I can hold off being annoying for a while, then he'll finally ask me."
