Kate Beckinsale: Sexy is risky

Kate Beckinsale claims being labelled a sex symbol can dampen your love life.

The British actress is widely considered to be one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood. However, Kate admits that the emphasis on looks can sometimes have a negative impact on self-confidence.

"I think the risk of being the sexiest woman alive is that you don't want to ever have sex again," she told the latest issue of Allure magazine. "You don't want to wear a bikini again. You want to wear some nice overalls and a trucker's hat."

Although Kate has attracted attention from admirers all over the world, she hasn't always felt confident about her appearance.

The 38-year-old brunette only felt happy in her own skin after settling down with director Len Wiseman.

"Feeling attractive didn't come until I was 29 and with Len At the time it was partly perceived as if I'd gone all Hollywood, but it wasn't like that at all," she explained. "It was just OK for me to walk around and feel feminine and attractive. I like feeling liberated like this."

Kate has a 13-year-old daughter, Lily, with her former partner Michael Sheen.

While Len was working on a movie with Bruce Willis, he asked the Hollywood hardman for help on how to cope when a teenager starts dating.

"I remember Len talking to Bruce Willis when Len did Live Free or Die Hard, and I think Bruce did some terrifying things when his daughter started having a boyfriend," Kate recalled. "Len and I asked him, 'When Lily starts having boyfriends, will you come over, too? We'll all stand on the doorstep, scare the sh*t out of them.'

"But maybe now I don't need Bruce. Now that I'm a villain, I can go solo."
