Kate Hudson for free parenting
Kate Hudson hopes to bring up her two sons in the same way she was - with a relaxed sense of discipline.
The 32-year-old actress - mum to one month old Bingham, with Muse rocker fiancee Matt Bellamy, and Ryder, seven, from her previous marriage to rocker Chris Robinson - was brought up by her actress mother Goldie Hawn and her step-father Kurt Russell.
Kate told Elle magazine: "My parents allowed my brother and I to have our freedom.
"[We could] be ourselves and feel confident in our choices and make mistakes without too much judgment. I hope that I can do as good a job.
"We've definitely had lots of talks about parenting and being a working mom."
She added: "[My mom] never hands out unsolicited preachy words of wisdom."
Kate and Matt, who met at last year's Coachella festival are engaged but are in no hurry to tie the knot.
She said: "One thing at a time. We'll say hello to our new one and enjoy that for a while."
Kate also talked about travelling around with her young family as Matt is touring with band Muse and her work requires her to film on location.
She said: "Most relationships I've had in my life have been with people who travel quite a bit for work. I don't know if I'm attracted to that specifically, but it is nice to be with somebody who understands having to be on the move."
