Kate Upton: SI cover prep wasn't drastic
Kate Upton didn't do "anything drastic" ahead of her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue shoot.
This week, the beauty was confirmed as the newest cover girl for the publication's coveted annual front page. Kate is famed for her fabulous curves, and says she didn't feel under any pressure to lose weight ahead of the career-changing shoot.
"I just cut out some more of the splurges," she told US Weekly at Tuesday's Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue launch party at Crimson in New York City. "But you know, they want you to be curvy and sexy. They don't want you to do anything drastic."
Kate says she normally "splurges" once a week. The 19-year-old refuses to deny herself the odd treat.
"It could be a cupcake," she said. "It doesn't matter!"
Kate says appearing on the front cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue is "amazing".
The blonde was touted as the front runner for the magazine's front page since being named Rookie of the Year in 2011. And in an unsurprising reveal, she was confirmed as the newest cover girl on The Late Show with David Letterman on Monday.
Appearing on the front page of the publication is one of the most sought after jobs in the fashion industry, with models including Heidi Klum, Tyra Banks, Marisa Miller and Elle Macpherson previously gracing the page.
Irina Shayk won the coveted spot on the sports' publication's most popular issue last year.
