Katie Holmes enjoyed a "pretty low-key" dinner with her daughter Suri on Sunday.
The actress and her little girl joined a blonde female friend and one more tyke at high-end restaurant ABC Kitchen in New York City.
The star's bodyguard observed the supper from the nearby bar.
Although residents in the Big Apple were preparing for Hurricane Sandy to strike, Katie and Suri appeared content to be dining out with their friends.
"[The meal] was pretty low-key, [they were] just enjoying dinner," a source told People magazine.
"Suri and her friend looked happy and were having fun."
Katie left her heavy waterproof boots and poncho at home that evening despite the rainy forecast.
The star's ensemble was reportedly immaculate.
"Katie was all dolled up, lots of makeup and dressed to impress," the witness detailed.
"She was wearing very high heels, a dark green silk shirt and carried a fuchsia clutch."
Hurricane Sandy is currently wreaking havoc on America's east coast.
The "Frankenstorm" has 90 mile-per-hour winds and is expected to cause extreme damage.
