Katie Holmes: I don’t go out

Katie Holmes “would spend the whole time worrying” if she thought about how she is portrayed on social media.

The 36-year-old actress has been in the spotlight since starring in Dawson’s Creek back in 1998.

But Katie admits she does everything in her power to avoid online social networks.

"I think that it’s a very interesting time for artists right now because of social media and camera phones,” she told Red magazine.

"I don’t think you ever know how you’ll be portrayed. Any story can attach itself to your image. I don’t pay much attention because I’d spend the whole time worrying. I just don’t go out much to avoid it."

Katie has an eight-year-old daughter, Suri, with ex-husband Tom Cruise.

And while her life has taken some unforeseen turns over the years, the star believes she’s remained the same person throughout.

In the interview, Katie was asked what advice she would give if she could speak to her 20-year-old self.

“I’m not so different than I was at 20,” she replied. “I still buy too many jeans… I don’t stay stuck on anything too long. I mean, like, any emotion.”

Katie also used the interview to open up about just how much she loves being a woman.

"Women are complicated, in a beautiful way, and they have lots of different roles,” she said. “I’m inspired by the community of women it takes to help one woman succeed. It’s important to be supportive and have people you can call at 3am.

"I have a group of friends I call, and my sisters. If I’m thinking about my sister, she will end up calling me, it’s weird. Telepathic."
