Katie Holmes is enjoying her first Independence Day without Tom Cruise since they got together in 2005.
The 33-year-old actress was out with daughter Suri in New York City and stopped in at her local Whole Foods to get some holiday fare.
The brunette beauty spoke publicly for the first time to America's Daily News following her bombshell divorce filing last week.
"I'm alright," Katie said as she pushed Suri in the shopping cart. "Thank you."
Katie picked up some ingredients for her Fourth of July meal including ground beef, hamburger rolls, strawberries and bananas.
The mother-daughter duo apparently laughed together and Suri grabbed a sun hat which she put on and styled for Katie.
The high profile pair was accompanied by a security guard on their shopping trip and the six-year-old is said to have given her mother a big hug as they left the grocery store.
Katie and Suri also enjoyed a night time trip to an ice cream parlour in NYC yesterday where she looked relaxed and happy.
