Katie Holmes sets herself a motherhood curfew on nights out
Katie Holmes' 10-year-old daughter Suri comes first in all aspects of her life.
Katie Holmes sets herself a 10pm curfew when she goes out so she can be a "dependable" mother.
The 37-year-old actress is mother to 10-year-old Suri with ex-husband Tom Cruise. As a single mother, Katie enjoys heading out on the town or to red carpet events when she can, but always makes sure she's home in good time for her little girl.
"When I'm not on set, I'm being a mom. I'm doing mom stuff," Katie told Modern Luxury magazine. "When I go to an event, I leave at 10pm because it's really important to me to be a mom that is dependable."
Katie is certainly kept busy with her commitments as a mother, as well as an actress and now she's adding director to her resume, as shes make her directorial debut with new movie All We Had.
But all the jobs Katie agrees to are ones she has considered with Suri in mind.
"I think the most important thing in my life is giving my child the childhood I want her to have," she added. "That comes first. That dictates where I work and when I work because it's my main job right now."
Katie is seen posing in a green dress and pink sash as she lays on the floor for one snap in the magazine, while another collage-style picture shows her wearing a black trouser suit and white shirt while striking various poses.
Her latest role sees Katie star and direct drama All We Had. The tale follows Katie's character Rita as she struggles to raise her 13-year-old daughter Ruthie, and the actress says the story was one she hasn't seen on screen before.
"A mother's love is greater than anything; it's definitely a universal theme," she said. "I think seeing Ruthie fight her mother is natural to (any) mother/daughter relationship. But Rita is very much a child herself, which makes them more original in their relationship. I felt like we haven't seen that kind of story too much between mother and daughter. I thought that was worth telling."
