Katy Perry triumphs at Kids’ Choice Awards

Katy Perry, Kristen Stewart and Selena Gomez triumphed at last night’s Kids’ Choice Awards.

The annual ceremony was held at The Galen Center in Los Angles, with Josh Duhamel hosting proceedings.

It’s been a difficult week for Katy following her supposed split from John Mayer, but she seemingly put that out of her mind. She arrived at the event in a tiny blue and yellow crop top, paired with a matching pencil skirt. She beamed as she walked the purple carpet and was just as excited when she picked up the best female singer prize, beating off competition from Adele, Taylor Swift and Pink.

“I love the kids! This is such a cool award. I think it's the coolest award. I just want to tell you I'm so excited for the next time I'm here," she gushed as she accepted her prize.

The star was seen talking to Selena Gomez and Kristen Stewart inside the venue, who were also winners on the night.

Nickelodeon's 26th Annual Kids' Choice Awards were decided on by viewers, with over 350 million votes cast this year.

Kristen was thrilled to receive the best movie actress and best female butt kicker prizes.

“This is really cool I really appreciate it. I had shirt in kindergarten it said 'Kick Butt First...' so thanks guys, peace,” she laughed.

The ceremony is as famous for the mess it causes as for the accolades it bestows. Select celebrities get covered in green slime while on stage each year and this time it was Sandra Bullock and Neil Patrick Harris who received the dubious honour.

Sandra has been covered in the goo before and started looking around for buckets off it when she took to the stage with Neil to give Kristen her best actress prize.

Neil jokingly had a wand he used to create a no slime zone around them, but when Sandra asked what happened if he wiggled it the other way the pair were immediately covered in the gunk.

Selena received the best TV actress prize for her turn in Wizards of Waverly Place, which has now finished.

“Yay! I know that even though the series is ended, I can't thank you so much for continuing to support the show. This goes to you guys,” she said.

Other winners included Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, One Direction and Justin Bieber, with Christina Aguilera, Pitbull and Ke$ha among the performers.
