Keeley: Upstairs ratings healthy
Keeley Hawes has defended her show Upstairs Downstairs following reports that the new series has suffered a ratings slump.
The Spooks star plays Lady Agnes in the BBC period drama, which Broadcast reported lost 1.5 million viewers after the first episode, beaten by ITV's Wild At Heart and Dancing On Ice.
But Keeley said: "We only have the consolidated figures for the first episode and we got eight million. So I think, on a normal day, without the juggernauts that have been coming about recently on TV, I think that's pretty respectable. Very healthy indeed."
The 36-year-old actress said she had loved working on the new series and felt the cast had become a "little family". She said she hopes to return for a third series.
Lady Agnes may spend her time lounging around upstairs while the downstairs staff do the cleaning, but Keeley revealed she loves cleaning.
The actress is teaming up with London Mayor Boris Johnson for the P&G Capital Clean Up, to help spruce up neglected areas of the city ahead of the 2012 London Olympic games.
Keeley said: "I absolutely love cleaning, it's a bit dad but I find it really therapeutic. I love it."
She added: "I'll be be getting hands on in one of the green spaces that are being tidied up in April. I'll be there getting my hands dirty."
