Keira Knightley: Failure doesn’t matter anymore
Keira Knightley has credited becoming a mother to helping her put “everything into perspective”.
Actress Keira Knightley is no longer concerned with concepts of success or failure after becoming a mother.
The 30-year-old welcomed daughter Edie in May 2015, a child she shares with her musician husband James Righton.
Keira is currently receiving rave reviews starring as the title character in Broadway play Thérèse Raquin and she credits becoming a parent to helping her take on frightening challenges.
"I think motherhood puts everything into perspective, I really do,” she told British newspaper The Telegraph.
"I've been offered [the Thérèse Raquin part] a bunch of times and I've always gone, 'Well, this is scary and this is really difficult'. I still find it terrifying, but why not give it a go.
"I'm very grateful to become a mother while doing something this unbelievably difficult, because honestly the worst that could happen is that you fail.”
Keira feels grateful she is able to work and care for her baby simultaneously.
In July 2006 Keira confessed she was a workaholic, but the star is determined to live a more balanced life due to her parental obligations.
"You try your best and I've been really lucky that I have had the opportunity to be working and finding interesting things, and working with interesting people while being a mum at the same time,” she said. “Ultimately as long as my kid is alright, everything is fine."
Although all is going famously with Keira’s Broadway production now, the show was initially inundated with problems after previews began Thursday 1 October 15. The first performance had only been going for 15 minutes when Landon Rust, 29, began shouting at Keira from a mezzanine. He apparently asked her to marry him and begged for a response, with Keira and her cast mates managing to ignore him. Security were quick to react to the disturbance, removing Landon from the play.
Keira is said to have filed a harassment claim against the man out of fear for her safety.
She then had to cancel her 7 October (15) show due to a minor injury.
