Kellan Lutz has a passion for chemistry.
The 27-year-old actor catapulted to fame as vampire Emmett Cullen in The Twilight Saga film series.
But behind-the-scenes he's been pursuing his love of science.
"I know a lot about chemical reactions, but it's interesting to see how you mix two chemicals together and heat starts forming," he told DuJour magazine, proudly adding, "I even made some polyurethane!"
The organic polymer is used to make Spandex but Kellan's experience with it is only the start of his dream career.
The 90210 star says for now he's focusing on acting, which has helped him fund his hobby and allowed him to give back to charity.
But if roles ever dry up he has a back-up plan.
"It's great because acting has given me the resources and platform to help charities but also the money to create my inventions and pay for the patent process," Kellan explained, musing, "Attorneys aren't cheap!"
