Kerry Washington learned of her Emmy nomination while travelling through an airport.

The star received a nod for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Olivia Pope in political TV drama Scandal.

When the announcements were made Thursday morning Kerry was in the midst of a journey.

She could barely contain her excitement when she received a phone call with the delightful news.

“I actually was in an airport and Michelle, my publicist and friend, called me to tell me, I didn’t want to cause a stir so I was like, ‘Uh huh, uh huh – yeah, no, I hear you’,” she laughed to Access Hollywood, adding, “I was trying to pretend that everything was normal! The best acting I’ve ever done in my life was this morning at the airport.”

Kerry is moved by the acknowledgement and feels privileged to be working with so many talented actors on the programme.

The intelligent star appreciates that her work on Scandal is being recognised in the Hollywood community.

“I don’t think you can assume this kind of stuff or take it for granted,” she explained. “I’m not a person who’s ever at a loss for words, but I feel so honoured and grateful and humbled by the news. Just kind of floored.”

Kerry married American football star and actor Nnamdi Asomugha last month.

She held a secret ceremony in Blaine County, Idaho on June 24 with her new husband, according to E! Online.

She was previously engaged to actor David Moscow, but the former couple split in 2007.

The 2013 Primetime Emmy Awards will take place on September 22.

Trust your instincts regarding moneymaking offers. If a job seems too good to be true, it probably is. Working as part of a campaigning team will suit you down to the ground. You're more motivated to help people than turn big profits. Some friends will discourage you from entering such a field, fearing it won't be lucrative. Don't worry. You'll make a very good salary by doing what you love. Contrary to popular belief, you don't have to be miserable to earn a good living.More
