Kerry Washington’s ‘extraordinary dreams’
Kerry Washington says every aspect of her life feels blessed after giving birth to her daughter in April.
The 37-year-old Scandal actress married NFL player Nnamdi Asomugha in June 2013 and the couple welcomed their first child together, daughter Isabelle, on April 21.
In response to a question during an interview with the Los Angeles Times as to whether it will be bittersweet for her to return to work after becoming a mother, Kerry offered a tactful response.
"So tricky because you know I don't talk about this stuff," the Emmy-nominated star said.
"I will say I feel really, really blessed. I just feel really blessed that I'm kind of living extraordinary dreams come true in my work life and in my personal life."
The Scandal star announced her pregnancy in October and first showed off her bump at the Golden Globes red carpet in January.
“I have the best date of the night — my little accessory,” she said at the time. “I mean, Louboutins are great but this is the best accessory, I think this year. I feel really, really blessed. It just feels like a really good time.”
Kerry’s pregnancy was not written into her Scandal storyline, so her baby bump had to be disguised for the US drama, causing a few issues with wardrobe.
Fortunately her co-stars were thrilled to hear she was going to be a mother.
"She's already a mom. She already mothers all of us. She's very Olivia Pope to us, making sure we're all taken care of and happy," Darby Stanchfield, who plays Abby Whelan, told E! News. "She's really glowing. She's really happy. She's genuinely so looking forward to this moment, so it's fun to share in it with her."
