Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's new house will be "out of this world".

The reality TV star and her rapper boyfriend splashed out on a lavish $11 million home shortly after announcing they were expecting their first child.

The A-list couple are apparently renovating the Bel Air, California, mansion in a bid to turn it into an extravagant Italian-style villa.

"The place is already huge, but Kim and Kanye plan on making it bigger and better," a source told British new! magazine.

"There's already a few diggers and workmen's vans outside it, so renovation on the house has begun. It'll be out of this world once it's complete."

Kanye announced the brunette beauty is expecting his child during a concert at the end of last month.

With the new arrival due in July, the pair are apparently looking for a more secure environment.

"It's so exciting for them. The house is gorgeous. And they really wanted and needed the privacy," the source added.

TMZ reported the new property will boast various luxuries, such as a gym, bowling alley, hair and make-up salon and basketball court.

Other famous faces in the neighbourhood include Jennifer Aniston and film producer Joe Francis.
