Kim Cattrall unimpressed by Gervais
Kim Cattrall says Ricky Gervais’ Golden Globe comments about Sex and the City were “cheap”.
The 54-year-old actress is best known for her portrayal of man-eater Samantha Jones in the now defunct US show Sex and the City, which followed the love lives of a group of glamorous New Yorkers.
Ricky is known for his provocative sense of humour, and in his second turn at hosting the Golden Globe Awards earlier this month he famously made some risqué gags about various celebrities. One of Ricky’s jokes was aimed at the movie Sex and the City 2 – which starred Kim and the other Sex and the City actresses Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon. The funnyman teased that the movie should win a special effects award because he claimed the stars had been airbrushed in the film’s promotional poster. Although Kim didn’t watch the ceremony, she feels disappointed by the comments, especially since she considers ageism to be such a serious issue in the industry.
"I didn't watch it so I can't really comment on it. Ageism is out there and I fight it every day in my own way," she told Extra. "So, I think that's kind of a cheap joke... Maybe some people feel that needs to be out there. I don't particularly think so."
Kim also expressed how much she misses her Sex and the City co-stars. Unfortunately the actresses have all been working hard on different ventures since promoting the movie together last year, and haven’t had a chance to catch up properly.
"I miss the girls. We've all been so busy since the show ended, privately and professionally," she added.
