Kim Kardashian Paris robbery: French police face 'baffling' investigation
'The door is armoured and easily locked from the inside'
French authorities investigating the €9m burglary in Kim Kardashian's residence are trying to determine how burglars gained access to the exclusive property where she was staying.
The reality tv star (35), who was in Paris for Fashion Week, was reportedly dragged from her bed in the early hours of Monday morning by five armed men dressed as police officers.
She is believed to have been handcuffed with cable ties in the bathtub of her bedroom and gagged.
Kardashian was staying at a private property she frequents during her visits to Paris, while her husband Kanye West was performing in New York, her sisters Kourtney Kardashian and Kendall Jenner and mother Kris Jenner were all staying at a separate hotel.
Her bodyguard was with Kourtney and Kendall as they partied the night away after the Givenchy show on Sunday. Her children North (three) and Saint (nine months) were in New York at the time.
But police are reportedly struggling to determine how the burglars, who stole a €6m jewellery box and €3m ring, gained access to the building.
"This is the baffling part of the inquiry," a source told DailyMail.com.
"The door is armoured and easily locked from the inside.
"We are dealing with a young woman who was sleeping alone with a hugely valuable amount of jewellery.
"She would never open the door in the middle of the night in these circumstances, so who did?’
More details of her ordeal became public overnight including her fears that she would be raped and pleaded for her life.
"She begged for them to let her live and [said] she has babies at home. Then they wrapped her mouth in tape and put her in the bathtub," a source told E! News.
"She thought they were for sure going to kill her," the source says.
She gave a statement to police and the concierge reportedly gave the men access to the building because they were dressed as police officers.
Kim "broke out of her bindings and got out" when she was alone in the room and fled Paris in the early hours of Monday morning on a private jet.
A spokesperson for the star confirmed she was "badly shaken", adding she is "not physically hurt".
"Kim Kardashian West was held up at gunpoint inside her Paris hotel room this evening by two armed masked men dressed as police officers," he said.
Meanwhile, James Corden and Chrissy Teigen are among the celebrities to rally to her defence after she was trolled when news of the burglary broke.
The Late Late Show host James was quick to jump to the defence of the Keeping Up With the Kardashians beauty, writing on his own Twitter page: "People making jokes about @KimKardashian tonight would do well to remember that she's a mother, a daughter, a wife, a friend. Be nice or shut up."
The 38-year-old wasn't the only famous face to back Kim after the shocking situation.
Model-turned-author Chrissy Teigen, who is a close friend of Kim's, also slammed those trolling her pal, tweeting: "Fame is interesting. Celebs are supposed to love you guys while also knowing you'd make a meme of our dead bodies to get retweets.
