Kim Kardashian's shock engagement

Reality star Kim Kardashian is set to get married

Kim Kardashian has got engaged after her basketball star boyfriend surprised her with a romantic proposal.

The 30-year-old reality TV star told People magazine of her shock and delight when she walked into her bedroom last week to find boyfriend of six months, New Jersey Nets forward Kris Humphries, waiting on bended knee with "will you marry me?" presented in red rose petals.

Kim said: "I didn't expect this at all. I was in such shock. I never thought it would happen at home, and I never thought now."

Kris, 26, had a 20.5-carat diamond ring specially designed for his future bride, saying: "I just knew I wanted it to be big."

He then got Kim's mother Kris Jenner to help him plan an intimate family party for later in the evening.

Kim revealed: "Kris really didn't want a big celebration, but he had jokingly told my mom he'd be fine if there were mini-horses there. Later that night at the party, my mom brought out two mini-horses, covered in glitter, for us! It was hysterical!"

Meanwhile, Kourtney, Kim and Khloe Kardashian are working on a novel, and fans may get to name it.

Publisher William Morrow, an imprint of HarperCollins, announced that the reality stars are turning to fiction.

Scheduled for a November release, the book promises an imaginary peak into the dynamics of "a glamorous, high profile and complicated family."
