Kim Richards talks ‘difficult’ pit bull attack
Kim Richards is figuring out the “next step” for her pit bull Kingsley after he bit her niece.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star had to take her 18-year-old niece Alexia to hospital after the dog bit her. Now she is contemplating whether or not she should have the animal in her home.
"At this point I am looking at options to what the next step is for Kingsley,” the 50-year-old reality star said in a statement obtained by Radar Online. “As many of you can relate, he is my best friend. This is a very difficult decision and time for all of us, but the safety of my family always comes first."
After saying she is giving serious thought to whether or not it’s safe enough to have Kingsley around her house, she explained what happened. She said rules had been laid out regarding the dog and how to approach it, but they weren’t adhered to.
"The events that led up to Kingsley biting Alexia resulted from the girls entering my bedroom after I already told them my room was off limits,” she explained. “When guests are over Kingsley stays in my bedroom and has been given access to a special fenced in area in my backyard. Anyone entering the house is made aware that the dog should not be bothered.”
Kim went on to make it clear she took all relevant medical precautions after the bite. Alexia is the daughter of her reality star sister Kyle, so naturally she alerted her to the situation.
"The second I realized Alexia had been bitten on the finger leaving a puncture mark on her thumb, I immediately called my sister, Kyle, and took her to the nearest emergency room,” she wrote. “After the wound was cleaned and bandaged the girls went on with their day and I stayed in contact to make sure that my niece was ok. The one procedure that Alexia has had was to clean the wound to make sure it would not get infected."
