Kimye Vogue cover to break records
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's controversial Vogue cover is on track to become the highest-selling edition of the magazine.
The reality TV star graced the front cover of the US fashion bible in a wedding dress with her rapper fiance in the April issue, which could be on course to sell half a million copies.
"The projections are that Kim and Kanye will likely sell almost 500,000 copies," a magazine insider revealed to Radar Online.
This would eclipse the previous top-selling issues featuring Beyonce, which sold 355,39 copies, and US First Lady Michelle Obama, which shifted 293,798 copies.
The cover, shot by Annie Leibovitz, has attracted plenty of attention - it's been parodied by James Franco and Seth Rogen while Muppets Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy did their own spoof version.
It also received some backlash, with a ctress Sarah Michelle Gellar tweeting: "Well... I guess I'm cancelling my Vogue subscription. Who is with me???"
When supermodel Naomi Campbell was asked about the issue, she appeared not to give it her endorsement, bursting into giggles and initially refusing to answer.
Asked why she didn't want to comment, she replied: "Because I'm a fashion model and I've been working for 28 years, and when you get a Vogue cover, it's a build in your career. It's a stepping-stone to achieve that. And I'm a fashion model, what more can I say?"
Vogue editor Anna Wintour defended her decision, writing: "As for the cover, my opinion is that it is both charming and touching, and it was, I should add, entirely our idea to do it; you may have read that Kanye begged me to put his fiancee on Vogue's cover. He did nothing of the sort. The gossip might make better reading, but the simple fact of the matter is that it isn't true."
