Kirsten Dunst signs up for Fargo
Kirsten Dunst has joined the second series of Fargo.
The Spider-Man star will play "a small town beautician" attempting to find out who she really is in the next instalment of the US crime drama.
The first series of the drama, starring Martin Freeman and Billy Bob Thornton and based on the Oscar-winning 1996 Coen brothers film, won three Emmys, including outstanding miniseries.
Breaking Bad actor Jesse Plemons has also landed a role in the new series, as a butcher's assistant and Kirsten's husband, Entertainment Weekly reports.
It says that while the setting and crimes will link to the first series, the forthcoming episodes will be a prequel, set in 1979, with a new cast.
The new episodes also focus on Molly's mother - who was not a character in season one - and her father, cop turned diner owner Lou Solverson, in his youth.
His role, played by Keith Carradine in the first series, has not yet been cast.
