Klum: I must help others
Heidi Klum has shared her thoughts on why it is essential for famous people to give back to communities.
The 40-year-old Project Runway star attended the Hollywood Stands Up to Cancer event Tuesday night, which was hosted by Reese Witherspoon and her husband Jim Toth.
Heidi cherishes charity and she was elated to extend her support to the cause.
"They asked me to do the photos for their campaign and we always did them quite cheeky – I wasn't wearing much," Heidi told People magazine.
"But I just think it's important to give your time to important organisations like this."
Heidi is mother to four children and she is committed to instilling charitable values in her offspring.
The stunning supermodel is of the mind that it is her duty as a famous person to be philanthropic.
"To be honest I always wanted to help, whether it was supporting cancer research or supporting AIDS research with Elton John, I did that before having children,” she explained.
“When you're in the paper and people listen to what you have to say, [helping others] is part of what you have to do as a human being."
Heidi’s attendance at the non-profit gala is her first red carpet appearance since allegedly splitting from longtime boyfriend Martin Kristen.
She and the bodyguard began dating in September 2012, just months after she filed for divorce from ex-husband Seal.
But apparently Heidi’s passions for him have waned, as she supposedly ended their relationship a few weeks ago.
"Life is about timing. He was incredibly supportive and they were there for each other, but they're moving on now," a source recently revealed to the publication.
