Keira Knightley was given a 100-year-old olive tree as a wedding gift from new husband James Righton.

The Sun reports that James Righton presented the 28-year-old British actress with the 100-year-old plant on their big day.

He reportedly gave his gift an extra romantic touch by having their initials and the date of the wedding carved into the back.

Keira and James tied the knot in a low-key ceremony on Saturday in the south of France.

“James had it planted in the back garden of her home in France on the day of the wedding,” a source told The Sun. “He had carved their initials in a heart and showed her in front of everyone.

“She collapsed into fits of giggles, it was very sweet.”

The couple tied the knot at a tiny town hall near the Atonement star’s Provence farmhouse in front of just 11 guests.

They both wore sunglasses and skipped out of the town hall after the ceremony on Saturday, using a Renault Clio to transport them to the reception.

The newspaper adds that James, a member of indie rock outfit Klaxons, also bestowed Keira with a wedding band which had once belonged to his grandmother.

“The ring he gave her was a family heirloom too. He really did think it all through,” the insider added. “It was an amazing wedding, the whole thing was really sweet and down to earth.”
