Kris Jenner: I admire talk show hosts
Kris Jenner is a "big fan" of Oprah Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres, so is confident her own TV talk show will be a hit.
The Kardashian matriarch makes her daytime debut with Kris today.
The reality TV star is convinced her six-week slot on Fox will be a success as she has always been a fan of fellow hosts including Oprah Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres.
“I grew up watching Mike Douglas and Merv Griffin and I’ve always been obsessed with talk shows,” she explained to the New York Daily News. “I’m a big fan of people like Oprah and Ellen and I’ve always loved all the late-night show hosts, like Jimmy Fallon and Jay Leno.
“My best friend is Kathie Lee Gifford, and I remember 20 years ago, going to work with her, thinking ‘She’s got the greatest job in the world.'"
Kris has made her name on popular reality TV show Keeping Up with the Kardashians alongside her famous family, including daughters Kim, Kourtney and Khloé.
The 57-year-old star was instantly taken with the idea of having her own talk show slot after the success of her family's series.
“We started getting a slew of letters and emails asking us questions about fashion, decorating, eyelashes and cooking. And I’ve always been someone who’s really passionate about that stuff. But it’s not something that we always show on our show, because there are so many family members you never really get to know somebody inside and out,” she said.
“So when they offered me my own talk show, I was like, ‘Where do I sign?’"
Kris has had previous experience as a host, guest-starring on popular shows The View, The Talk and Today.
The raven-haired star says such experience gave her a taste for hosting her own show.
“That was so much fun for me that I realised that I could do this every single day of my life,” she smiled.
