Kristin Scott Thomas: French food is better
Kristin Scott Thomas prefers Parisian ingredients when she's cooking a meal.
The actress moved to the French capital when she was 19 and now splits her time between there and work commitments in England.
She's currently treading the boards in London's West End, playing the title role of Electra at the Old Vic. While she's enjoying her time in Britain, Kristin misses the food back in France.
“My apartment in Paris is gorgeous but I have someone who keeps on top of it. Here it’s more chaotic," she smiled to ES Magazine.
“I don’t particularly get into Christmas but I do make the best mincemeat and I’m very good at pastry. And at roasting. But generally my cooking is a bit hit and miss. I find it’s much easier to throw a good meal together in France than it is in England, simply because - and I hate to say this because it sounds a bit Grinchy - it’s much easier to get very good produce at a reasonable price in Paris than it is in London.”
The 54-year-old is a regular on both stage and screen and was nominated for an Oscar for her portrayal of Katharine Clifton in 1996's The English Patient.
Kristin admits she's not going to be visiting any nightclubs while in London, but she does want to find somewhere where she can let her hair down.
"I don’t enjoy clubs and darkness, but I love dancing and I love to sing," she revealed. "I’m loving London right now. I’m having the best possible time. I live in the most beautiful part - I love Little Venice - and I love going up to the Heath on Sunday mornings.”
