Strictly Come Dancing’s Craig Revel Horwood has poked fun at Kristina Rihanoff’s romantic past.

(Cover) - EN TV - Strictly Come Dancing’s Kristina Rihanoff was “gutted” to be paired up with Daniel O’Donnell this season, according to Craig Revel Horwood.

Irish singer Daniel, 53, is one of the line-up for the latest season of the dancing competition. He’s been teamed with professional hoofer Kristina, 38, who has a chequered history with the TV show.

She was teamed with professional boxer Joe Calzaghe in 2009 and he left his long-term partner after his participation, going on to romance Kristina. Their relationship ended in 2013 which was the same year she worked with former rugby star Ben Cohen. Their friendship was marred in controversy as Ben split from his wife, who he’d been with since he was 17, in September (14) and at the time Ben and Kristina insisted they weren’t an item. They have since confirmed they are dating.

“She’s a bit of a loose cannon, and I feel sorry for Daniel O’Donnell,” judge Craig told Britain’s The Sun newspaper. “When she first got paired with him, I think she was gutted! But it was rather obvious she wasn’t going to get a hot, young celeb after everything that’s happened.”

Craig is famed for his acid-tongued remarks on the show and is usually the judge who points out when the stars have made mistakes.

He can understand why Kristina – who enjoyed a lengthy romance with fellow professional dancer Vincent Simone – has looked to the dancefloor for her romantic partners.

“It’s natural to fall in love with your dance partner when you’re spending so much time together and Kristina managed it a few times!” he laughed. “But somehow I don’t think that will be the case this time around.”

Daniel doesn’t seem too concerned either, having only spoken about how excited he is to be taking part in the programme this year. He is famed for having hordes of older female fans, who will no doubt be excited at the prospect of him strutting his stuff over the next few weeks.

“Earlier this year, I decided to take a short break from touring and told myself that I would only consider doing something if it was both different and exciting," he explained of his decision to participate. "Well, what could be more exciting than Strictly Come Dancing? I love to dance and boy am I looking forward to getting started and being the best that I can be!”
