Kristina Rihanoff talks shock pregnancy
Kristina Rihanoff's "lifelong dream" has been to become a mother.
Kristina Rihanoff's pregnancy was a complete surprise, but she's thrilled as it's her "lifelong dream".
The Strictly Come Dancing star is currently competing on Celebrity Big Brother and she surprised her fellow housemates and viewers alike last week (end08Jan16) when she announced she is expecting a baby with her rugby star boyfriend Ben Cohen. The pair met when he was partnered with her on Strictly Come Dancing in 2013, causing speculation as they got together shortly after his split from his wife Abbie.
"It (the pregnancy) was a surprise but I am obviously delighted," Kristina told Britain's Hello! magazine. "My mother was with me over Christmas and when we found out she put her arms around me and she cried with joy.
"It is her lifelong dream for me to have a child and it was lovely to see her so happy."
The 38-year-old star's shock news has caused her to reevaluate her life, with the blonde dancer vowing to take more time for herself going forward.
"I think I am on a new path," she explained. "Learning about myself, how to relax and how to enjoy a more simple and balanced life. I can’t say I’m not nervous. But I’m very excited about the future."
This isn't the only big change in her life - she's also decided to leave Strictly Come Dancing despite taking part in the show for years. It wasn't an easy move, but Kristina remains certain it was the right one.
"It’s a bittersweet situation. I was on Strictly for eight years and I always loved the dancing side of it, but I feel relieved because I wasn’t happy towards the end," she said.
"I’m also sad because I’m going to miss everyone. I will always be grateful for the fantastic opportunity that Strictly gave me to be part of such a brilliant show. Strictly takes a toll on your life."
