La Toya: My wedding will rival Kim's
La Toya Jackson wants her wedding to rival Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's, and is planning a "huge" guest list.
The American star, older sister of the late Michael Jackson, announced news of her engagement to her business manager Jeffré Phillips earlier this week, nearly a year after he popped the question.
Like Kim, La Toya has her own reality TV show and is hoping her nuptials can rival that of Kim and Kanye West's.
“It’s going to be bigger than Kim’s [Kardashian]!” La Toya enthused to New York Daily News' Confidenti@l column. “It’ll be bigger than anything, huge. Lots of people, all of it.”
Life With La Toya is screened on Oprah Winfrey's OWN network and follows the famous Jackson sibling through her day-to-day life.
Despite allowing cameras to document her daily routine, La Toya is cagey when it comes to family matters and doesn't like to talk about her younger brother.
"La Toya just gets very emotional, and that’s the topic that can make her cry. It’s a hard topic and it hasn’t gotten any better. She is a sensitive soul and just wants to focus on herself and her career," a friend revealed.
She's so against talking about her family that the show's executives have issued a statement demanding no media outlets bring the subject up.
“Please confirm that the appearance will not include questions about Michael Jackson, his kids, his new music, or Janet Jackson," a statement reads.
Family issues aside, 58-year-old La Toya is excited about her impending nuptials though no date has yet been revealed.
Jeffré got down on bended knee in Hawaii last August, presenting the star with a 17.5 carat diamond ring.
"I had no clue, I couldn't understand why he was so nervous," she recently told People magazine. "My heart just stopped. I was in total shock. We're best friends and we've been business partners forever. It was always professional – no one really crossed those boundaries."
