Lady Gaga to share peace prize

Lady Gaga is set to receive the peace award in person in Iceland

Lady Gaga is to share a biennial peace prize in memory of John Lennon, honouring her charity work and equality campaigning.

The US singer has been chosen as one of the recipients of the LennonOno Grant For Peace which will be handed out in Reykjavik, Iceland, by Lennon's widow Yoko Ono next week.

Other recipients which have already been announced include the late writer Christopher Hitchens and Russian punk act Pussy Riot, three of whose members have been imprisoned for a political protest.

The awards are handed out every other year on October 9, the birthday of former Beatles star Lennon and his son Sean.

Ono said: "Lady Gaga is one of the biggest living artists of our time. She is not only an artist, she is also an activist, using her art to bring better communication to the world.

"She is being acknowledged for her activism, and how her album Born This Way has widely changed the mental map of the world. And how it has made us deal with the future world, which happens to be here already."

Lady Gaga is due to attend the ceremony in person and accept a charitable donation which she will give to the Elton John Aids Foundation.

Gemini:

You never do anything in moderation. Attend every fun party, accept every juicy offer and try all the delectable treats spread before you. Avoid unpleasant people and activities like the plague. This should be a time of enjoyment. Leave your list of chores at home. You can always attend to these jobs at another time. If you have a chance to show your creative work to a publisher, manager or agent, go ahead. This is also a great opportunity to go on job interviews, auditions and first dates.More
