Irish presenter Laura Whitmore is hoping she can use the programme to jumpstart an even more successful television career.

Laura Whitmore has reportedly signed up to star in Strictly Come Dancing.

The 31-year-old presenter is most famous for hosting I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!'s ITV2 spin-off show, I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here Now. She quit the job in April (16), and is now said to have landed herself a competitor's slot on BBC talent show Strictly, which begins in September (16).

"Laura loves the show and is partial to dance on a night out so Strictly is a great fit," a source told The Sun newspaper.

Laura is close friends with Caroline Flack, who was crowned the winner of Strictly alongside partner Pasha Kovalev in 2014. Her success on the programme led to her being enlisted as host of The X Factor. While her time on that show lasted only one series, Caroline now hosts a weekly radio slot on Heart, and Laura is said to be hoping her time on Strictly can jumpstart an even bigger career for her as well.

The celebrity line-up for this year's Strictly has yet to be announced but among the other names rumoured to be taking part include television favourite Judge (Robert) Rinder.

Meanwhile, the professional dancers taking part on this year's show were confirmed on Tuesday (28Jun16), with fans left disappointed after Gleb Savchenko announced he won't be back on the programme.

"I thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the last series of Strictly Come Dancing and especially the way that the UK gave me such a warm welcome but due to family commitments I won't be returning to the show for the next series," Gleb said in a statement.

Gleb enjoyed huge success on the series, especially in the 2015 series when he and partner Anita Rani made it to the semi-final.

But even though he won't be taking part on this year's show, Gleb is still looking forward to seeing which stars will be involved.

"I'll definitely be tuning in though," Gleb added in his statement.
