Laverne Cox has revealed what it was like to finally meet Caitlyn Jenner.

The two stars finally got the chance to hang out when the Orange Is the New Black actress attended a special screening of reality show I Am Cait on Sunday.

It was a chance for the transgender icons to bond and it couldn't have gone better.

"[It was] pretty awesome," Laverne gushed to James Corden on The Late Late Show. "We had spoken on the phone several times. She called me the day after her ESPYs speech actually. She's such a sweet woman, loves her family, and just thinking about that whole paparazzi life that she has, I don't want that life."

Laverne and Caitlyn have always been vocal about their support of one another, with the Emmy nominee writing a moving blog post when Caitlyn, formerly known as Bruce, unveiled her new image on the cover of Vanity Fair last month.

To get fans excited for I Am Cait, which will hit the E! network on July 26, Laverne revealed some secrets about the first episode. First and foremost, it highlights just how much attention the star has to cope with on a daily basis.

"You'll see in the first episode of that show that she sometimes has to change cars multiple times to dodge the paparazzi," Laverne marvelled. "Which is an insane way to live.

"There's no way she could have transitioned privately, and I think she's doing it very eloquently and beautifully publically."
