Lavigne blanked on album title

Avril Lavigne describes her new album as "strong" but admits she had no idea what to title it.

The 29-year-old singer is currently promoting her fifth record and resorted to a self-titled release because she couldn't think of anything better.

"I didn't know what to call it. I really couldn't find a title to sum it up," she told Bello magazine.

Avril chose a simple headshot for the album cover and said dreaming up a title to compliment the image felt forced. She's more concerned with what fans think about the contents of the record.

"At the end of the day, I didn't want to give it a title. I'm just really excited for my fans to hear it. I think they'll be surprised," she said.

Avril also spoke about her other business ventures. The singer launched a fashion label, Abbey Dawn, back in 2008, and her first perfume, Black Star, hit shelves the following year. She says all of her side projects are connected to her work as a singer/songwriter.

"I like to be busy. Everything that I do outside of music is tied into my music. So it's all about good management and multitasking and keeping everything together. Making it all go hand in hand," she explained.

"When it comes to designing and making fragrances, I tie it all in with my current album. The colors, the theme, and the vibe."

Avril's new album is scheduled for release November 5.
