Lawrence comes to aid of ill woman

Jennifer Lawrence has shown off her real-life action hero credentials

Jennifer Lawrence has been praised as a real-life heroine after helping a woman who collapsed near her home.

The Hunger Games star was walking her dog with mum Karen outside her Santa Monica apartment when the woman fell ill, the Daily Mail reports.

Jennifer, 21, and a male onlooker were seen calling paramedics and tending to the lady - who was later apparently given the all-clear.

After the incident, the Oscar-nominated actress changed from her vest and leggings into a full-length black gown with a thigh-high split to go out for dinner.

Jennifer and Hunger Games co-star Josh Hutcherson are expected to reprise their roles as triumphant heroes Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark for the film's sequel Catching Fire, which will be directed by Francis Lawrence.
