Lea 'to go solo'
Lea Michele is reportedly in talks to take the lead in a Glee spin-off.
Glee creator Ryan Murphy is said to be developing a new TV show that will let fans see how the story continues for Lea’s character Rachel Berry.
The news comes after Ryan last month announced the sixth season of Glee would be its last.
“This is definitely happening. This will be announced soon,” a source told RadarOnline.
“They’re making the deals now and it also presents a viable exit plan for the main Glee series itself — in that some of its core cast would also migrate to the Lea Michele project as Glee is showing signs of aging.”
Lea, and the rest of the Glee cast and crew, were dealt a huge blow in July when lead actor Cory Monteith suffered a fatal drug overdose in a Canadian hotel room at the age of 31.
Cory, who played Lea’s on-screen boyfriend Finn Hudson, was also dating the 27-year-old actress in real life and the writers of Glee chose to incorporate his death into a storyline explaining the actor’s exit.
Lea recently opened up to America’s Elle magazine about the emotional ordeal.
“Now that I’m in this position, you can choose to rise, which is what I’m going to try to do. It’s very hard and you have to be very strong to come out of this alive,” she said.
Lea also revealed she recorded a song dedicated to Cory, adding it at the last minute to her debut album.
You’re Mine was added to the track list after the singer’s music label asked her if there was anything else she wanted to include. The star confessed she’d regret it if she left it out.
"It makes me so happy, this song. It makes me think so much of Cory. It was ours. When I think of him, I play this,” she said.
