Lee Mead: I face things head on

Lee Mead has said he is focusing on his daughter's future after his marriage split.

The musical theatre star and wife Denise Van Outen, who have a three-year-old daughter Betsy together, announced last month that they had separated after four years of marriage.

Asked about how his world had changed since winning Any Dream Will Do, Lee told Cumbria Live: "I'm pretty happy with the way the past six years have gone. I have got a beautiful daughter. It's important to balance my family life."

Questioned about his main worries, he added: "Nothing really worries me. My daughter's future is a thing I wish for - I wish for her to be happy.

"Things come along that you have to deal with but there are no actual worries - I tend to try to face things head on."

Denise and Lee met in 2007, when she judged the TV contest in which Lee triumphed.

They married in a small ceremony in the Seychelles two years later and shortly afterwards announced they were expecting their first child.
