Lena Dunham: I can't wait for gay wedding
Lena Dunham has joked she might get "married and pregnant" in celebration of today's victory for same-sex marriage in the US.
The creator of TV show Girls is known for being an avid supporter of same-sex marriage and often tweets about her views.
Today the Supreme Court ruled that the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), a law barring the federal government from recognising same-sex marriage legalised by the state, is unconstitutional.
This is a huge step forward for the gay and lesbian community and Lena expressed her joy online.
"Don't wanna traffic in stereotypes but let's be real: I'm gonna love a gay wedding," she wrote on Twitter.
"No one be shocked if I get married and pregnant with a daughter today in a slightly premature fit of joy #americathebeautiful (sic)."
There have been many political victories in the US recently, with Senator Wendy Davis and the Texas Democrats managing to block a bill that would have seen many of the state's abortion clinics shutting down.
The news also went down well with 27-year-old Lena.
"First Wendy, now DOMA gets the boot! Sometimes things are really great," she wrote.
"Dear @WendyDavisTexas- we are so grateful and proud. Side note: I just stood up for around 25 minutes and found it physically challenging (sic)."
Many celebrities are actively campaigning for gay rights, with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie famously claiming they won't tie the knot until same-sex marriage is legal.
