Lewis Hamilton: No kids for now
Lewis Hamilton wouldn't know how to juggle being a father with racing.
The pair have been dating on and off since 2007 and it's been rumoured the tumultuous nature of their relationship is down to long distance and the Formula One star's reluctance to settle down.
He acknowledges that managing his racing career alongside Nicole's hectic schedule as a performer isn't easy. That means neither wedding bells nor babies are on the horizon.
“It’s not something we’re thinking about currently," he acknowledged to British newspaper The Sun. “She’s about to start Cats [West End musical in London, UK] and I’m just enjoying the emotion and experience of winning this championship but that’s something that will happen naturally.
“The travelling thing is definitely hard. I wouldn’t want to take my kid out of school, for example, every race. How [do] you juggle that?
“When I have kids I want to be there for them and enjoy that with them.”
On Sunday, 29-year-old Lewis delighted fans when he won the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Nicole, 36, was overcome with emotion as she watched her beau race to success and congratulated him with hugs and kisses afterwards. It was a precious moment for the pair.
“It’s not been easy — she lives in LA, I live in Monaco and I’m travelling a lot for work," he sighed. “So obviously this makes it hard for us. But having Nicole there at the weekend was special.
“People could see the depth of our relationship and the sheer joy we share together.
“Her job is shifting all the time, whether it’s X Factor or (US TV series) Dancing with the Stars or Cats or music. Juggling your schedule to meet with the other is very hard, and it’s a long year with F1.
“At one point I flew to Asia for five weeks and couldn’t see her. It’s been tough.”
Referring to a newspaper article that meshed their names to create Hamzinger, Lewis joked their relationship is "unique" and that they can't be compared to Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt or Victoria and David Beckham.
He also admitted he's been taking some time off the track to head to the studio instead. According to the sportsman, he's made around 25 to 30 songs.
“Nicole has heard the music and I’ve worked with quite a few different producers like Rodney Jerkins," he said.
“Timbaland has heard my stuff. And I played it to Pharrell [Williams] and he was massively supportive. But I haven’t even decided if I want anyone else to hear it.”
