Lewis Hamilton will reportedly jet to the UK to be with Nicole Scherzinger as soon as he has some spare time.

The Formula One ace and the singer have had an on/off relationship since 2008, but called it quits earlier this month.

Despite their rocky past, Lewis is reportedly keen to win The X Factor UK judge back by proving they can make their long distance love work.

"Nicole and Lewis split due to hectic work schedules and his refusal to commit, but he's having a hard time away from Nicole. He's starting to see what he's lost," a source told British magazine Star.

"Lewis finishes up his Formula One commitments in November and is planning to fly straight to the UK to be here for Nicole while she films the live X Factor shows."

It's reported the pair parted ways due to 28-year-old Lewis' reluctance to propose to the former Pussycat Dolls star.

The sportsman has openly revealed his "world has been turned upside down", while Nicole has claimed heartbreak "sucks".

However, insiders believe they will benefit from the split in the long run.

"Right now, time apart is the best thing for them - they know they won't have time to see each other at all between now and November," the source continued.

"But Lewis is really suffering without Nic and is planning to take time off so he can be there for her during her busy time, just like she has been for him for years."

Nicole is apparently trying to concentrate on work to take her mind off the heartache.

While it's not looking good for the couple right now, the insider insists the love is still "very much there".
