Liam 'opens up about Miley split'

Liam Hemsworth has apparently broken his silence about his split from Miley Cyrus.

The Hunger Games actor and the Bangerz singer called off their engagement last year and so far Liam has remained tight-lipped about the break up.

However, according to The New York Post's Page Six, the actor was overheard telling friends at a restaurant in Italy that he and Miley had a "powerful connection" and that they would "always be best friends".

A source said: "Liam kept raving about how amazing she was, how much they clicked and understood everything about each other."

Liam, 24, and Miley got engaged in June 2012, when Miley was 19, and split in September 2013.

Two months after they split the singer revealed in an interview that she had no regrets about their failed engagement.

"I don't think I realised what 19 truly is, and I got engaged at 19, and I definitely wouldn't change being engaged," she told Barbara Walters in Barbara Walters Presents: The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2013.

"It was so fun wearing a fat rock for a few years. But now, I just feel like I can actually be happy."
