Liam Payne is reportedly struggling with fame since splitting from his girlfriend.

The One Direction star split from his girlfriend Danielle Peazer in May and is still mourning the end of the relationship.

He was forced to apologise to annoyed fans recently after lashing out at some who had been ringing his hotel phone and disturbing him. After reading rude signs about him at a show he said sorry via Twitter and insisted he would always be grateful for One Direction's legion of dedicated supporters.

The star is apparently finding things hard at the moment.

"He's struggling with fame since he split with Danielle. He's admitted he feels really lonely without her; she made him feel sane amid the madness. He wants her back, but he won't get a chance to see her soon," an insider explained to British magazine Heat.

The British boyband are on their Take Me Home tour at the moment, which has seen them perform all over the world. Liam is said to be finding it hard to be away from his family, with his sister recently using Twitter to admit he is suffering from homesickness.

The 19-year-old star hasn't been completely unhappy over the last few weeks though. Earlier this month he took to Twitter to share his favourite music with his fans.

"Everyone in the world needs to get there heads together and listen to John Mayer paper doll ... One of my new found faves of all time (sic)," he wrote.
