Liam Hemsworth couldn’t hide his embarrassment after a clip of him suggestively peeling a banana was shown on a US talk show.

The actor was interview by Jay Leno on The Tonight Show last night, apparently to promote The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

Jay was more interested in discussing Liam’s previous roles though, including a scene in racy Australian drama Satisfaction.

“Yeah, I remember Satisfaction; it’s a show about upper class prostitutes and I played an 18-year-old. I think I was 18 at the time and I played a 17-year-old pretending to be 18,” Liam explained.

When Jay joked that must have taken all his technical skill, Liam couldn’t help giggling. “Yeah, it takes some serious skill. I wasn’t wearing a lot on the show though.”

The 23-year-old star knew what was coming next, telling Jay he was aware a clip was to be broadcast.

The presenter then ordered the scene to roll and Liam was seen striding towards an older woman while wearing only the tightest of white briefs. His muscley physique got a cheer from the ladies in the audience, as did the way he seductively peeled a banana as he stood next to the female character.

“I love the banana!” Jay cheered after the clip finished.

Liam was less impressed though and was seen covering his face with his hands and squirming in his seat. Once the clip had finished, he bravely continued with the interview, although he couldn’t hide the bright red hue of his face.
