The 45-year-old actor plays a celebrity 'fixer' in Ray Donovan, which had the biggest original series debut in cable network Showtime's history.
He tweeted after the ratings were released: "To the cast, the crew, and the amazing team at Showtime... Congrats! You deserve every drop of it.
"And to all of you on here sending us so much love and support. I am truly overwhelmed by your kindness. Cannot thank you enough."
Liev, who has two sons with partner Naomi Watts, also appeared on American show Live With Kelly And Michael to promote the series.
