LiLo struck down with virus
Lindsay Lohan has contracted virus chikungunya while on holiday in the South Pacific.
The 28-year-old actress has spent time abroad over Christmas, soaking up the rays in the South Pacific.
After posting a series of happy pictures on social media, including snaps of her jet skiing and sunbathing, the star’s break seems to have taken a turn for the worse.
She took to Twitter and Instagram yesterday to inform fans she had contracted chikungunya, a virus contracted by mosquitoes that causes a sudden onset of fever.
But today she assured fans she isn’t letting it get her down.
“Being sick is no fun. But happy new year everyone. Be safe. Love all,” she wrote on Twitter.
“In good faith with good people. I refuse to let a virus effect my peaceful vacation be safe and happy on the new year all #wildfox and a positive, healthy new year (sic)”
The star has also used her experience to warn others of the dangers of mosquitoes when abroad.
“Before I got chikungunya,” she posted on Instagram, alongside a picture of herself on a jet ski, adding: “use Big [bug] spray please God bless. (sic)”
Lindsay has been busy recently, appearing in West End show Speed-the-Plow during her time in London, UK.
It marked her career comeback, which she launched with the help of Oprah Winfrey as mentor after spending time in rehab last year. She was court-ordered to 90 days in a facility, stemming from a car crash she was in in 2012.
