LiLo to make West End debut

Lindsay Lohan will appear in a revival of David Mamet's Speed-The-Plow.

The Mean Girls actress will star in Speed-The-Plow and has signed on to do eight shows a week at London’s Playhouse Theatre from September. Lindsay has been in London for most of June and last week she revealed she was preparing for a potential role.

“[I’m] nervous but excited,” she told the New York Times.

It has now been revealed that the 27-year-old will play the role of Karen, a temporary secretary who puts the relationship of two Hollywood producers under strain. It is the same role that Madonna played in the 1988 Broadway production of David Mamet’s play, which was nominated for two Tony awards. The part was later portrayed by Clueless star Alicia Silverstone in a 2006 revival and by Mad Men's Elisabeth Moss in 2008.

Lindsay was last seen in Paul Schrader's The Canyons last year, but was mauled by critics.

The redhead has been spending a lot of time in the English capital recently, causing a stir in department store Selfridges and frequenting celebrity hotspot Chiltern Firehouse. She will no doubt be glad of an excuse to stay in the city after a source revealed earlier this month that she feels less of a target in England than she does back home in the US.

“Lindsay’s convinced everyone in America is out to get her, but she’s had the opposite experience in London,” the insider revealed to Radar Online. “She loves British culture and says people have treated her with respect for the first time in years. Now she’s looking into the immigration process and planning a full-time relocation.”
