Lilo's 'free rehab stint'

Lindsay Lohan reportedly got her stint at the Cliffside Malibu rehab clinic for free.

The 27-year-old actress was ordered to seek treatment by a court last year after she was involved in a car accident. She began her three-month stay at The Betty Ford Centre but then moved to the Cliffside Malibu facility, which apparently didn't charge her for the care.

"Health insurance wouldn’t pay for the rehab stint because this was her sixth time in treatment," an insider told RadarOnline.

"Cliffside Malibu comped it. Prior to arriving at Cliffside, Lindsay had been at Betty Ford and wasn’t doing well there. Cliffside Malibu became available and agreed to allow her stay presumably because of the free publicity it gave them."

The move was seemingly a good one, with an insider claiming Lindsay "thrived" in the new environment. She was also given a private room rather than being asked to share with someone else.

Addiction recovery website The Fix puts the cost of a private room at Cliffside at $73,000 a month.

It's been claimed the red-haired actress is experiencing money problems at the moment, with New York Post claiming her credit cards were rejected when she was out shopping on Sunday. She was paid a reported $2 million to shoot a reality show for Oprah Winfrey's network OWN, although in an episode of the show she was seen worrying about money as she attempted to find somewhere to live.

The actress recently appeared on Ellen DeGeneres' talk show, where she spoke about her latest stint in rehab and how helpful she found it.

"No, I think that this was the first time that I was able to, you know, when I went to treatment this time, when I went to Cliffside, I really wanted a moment for myself and I learned a lot of different tools and things that I didn’t in the past," she explained.

"It's totally different now. It's strange. I also don't put myself in the same situations... there is nothing left for me in going out to a certain place if I know what it's going to result in. It's just not worth it to me."
